Your Path to Financial Independence

The path to financial independence is essentially an exercise in managing conflicting forces: Net Worth and Income Growth versus Security Vs. Consistency.

Life events, as well as those from the economic and professional realms, will create tensions between these forces.  Our Wealth Plan for Financial Independence will help you manage these tensions.

As you move through time and you manage these tensions, your path to financial independence can be illustrated by a pyramid of wealth stages.  We have developed a wealth program for each of these stages:

Level 5: Wealth Harvester (Self-Actualization)

  • Remunerated work-optional — passive income–funded lifestyle
  • Philanthropy and charitable giving
  • Intergenerational wealth transfer
  • Personal growth, mastery, and freedom of purpose

Level 4: Wealth Accumulator (Esteem)

  • Remunerated work-optional — passive income–funded lifestyle
  • Philanthropy and charitable giving
  • Intergenerational wealth transfer
  • Personal growth, mastery, and freedom of purpose

Level 3: Wealth Builder (Belonging & Responsibility)

  • Joint planning with spouse/partner
  • Financial planning for children and education
  • Will, POA, and planning around life goals
  • Consistent accumulation of investment assets

Level 2: Financial Dependence (Safety)

  • Emergency fund (3–6 months)
  • Insurance: health, life, disability, liability
  • Stable housing and consistent income
  • Rudimentary retirement assets (e.g., RRSPs, workplace pensions)

Level 1: Financial Survival (Physiological)

  • Earning enough to cover essential living expenses (food, rent, utilities)
  • Budgeting and managing cash flow
  • Debt repayment and avoiding high-interest traps
  • Access to banking and basic credit

THE THREE PRINCIPLES OF EXPONENT INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

Transparency

We will show you a snapshots of the portfolio are provided every month. On an annual basis, audited financial statements are also provided, along with an annual report of all the fund’s transactions.

Clarity

The strategy and approach of the fund is the same as the one used by the portfolio manager throughout his career: dividend income and growth of both income and capital over time.

Safeguards

The fund is not able to invest in illiquid and unlisted private companies or structures. Only listed stocks and securities are permitted. The fund cannot borrow to invest. The the fund is governed by an independent investment fund manager, trustee and auditor. This structure, by its very nature, is the safeguard of the fund.

FAQ

Why a fund when I can use an Exchange Traded Fund that offers lower management costs?
We will never be as competitive as funds that have hundreds of billions of dollars under management as operating costs are directly linked to assets under management. We are offering a one decision portfolio at a competitive price. The fund is an extension of the investment management and financial planning service offering of the firm for clients who wish to delegate the day-to-day management of their portfolio. You will retain transparency, clarity, and safeguards with the added benefit of choosing an experienced advisor. No robots, call centers or recent graduates will come anywhere near your affairs. We WANT you to call or email us. Serving clients is what we do and your financial independence is what we strive for.
I do not want mutual funds, why should I consider the EIM Partners Fund?
We are stock nerds. We understand why someone would rather own stocks directly. In most cases, a portfolio of stocks is more advantageous. However sometimes, a pooled fund will be more cost effective as it can provide the liquidity and diversification required in one transaction. We agree it is not for everyone all the time.
Do I have to be a client of Exponent Investment Management Inc. to invest in the fund?
